Analog Explained
Wires-X settings are explained below but let's start with the basics, what do you need? To use Wires-X in analog you need a HRI-200 interface and a radio with a "Din" connection like a Yaesu FT-7900. You don't have to use a Yaesu radio for Analog as long as you have a radio with the right connections on the radio that will be connected to the HRI-200. What does this cost? The HRI-200 costs $125 and the radios can be found used for $200 or new around $300. In addition to the above requirements you need a computer with Windows installed on it. Windows XP or later will work. It doesn't need to be super fast or new just a reliable computer and an internet connection with UDP ports 46100 - 46122 open. Once all that is established we have settings listed below that explain what we have found allows for better performance.
Analog Update 02/19/2018 Very Important:
Analog is now only available via Allstar and Echolink. Analog Wires-X will not hear all the traffic. You are free to connect but just know you will not hear the traffic. Why the change? No one used the Analog Wires-X room. It took a heavy investment with no return. If you want to access the Alabama Link via Allstar please contact us at info@alabamalink.info with your name, call sign and node number and we will add you to the "allow list".
We Now have added Allstar and Echolink to the Alabama Link
To access the Alabama Link via analog you have a few options. If you are using
Wires-X connect to room 28953. It is bridged to the other systems. We now have Allstar and Echolink added. To access Allstar you connect to node 44110 (KT4ROY) and on Echolink node 358391 and KT4ROY-R We have two rooms on Wires-X. Room 28933 is for Digital and Room 28953 is for Analog.
Wires-X Settings
It is important to set your station up properly with an analog node to help insure your system doesn't interfere with the entire network. Please use a DCS or CTCSS encode and decode on your analog node. If you are linking an analog repeater you must set the repeater hangtime to ZERO.
